How could technology support people who are experiencing loneliness?
Date & time
5 November 2025 | 16.00-18.00
Professional audiences
What's on offer?
10-15 minute talk to introduce event and findings from our research with populations at higher risk of loneliness. 10 minute Q&A followed by a 40 minute design jam to generate ideas for tech solutions. 10-15 minute discussion of ideas followed by networking and refreshments.
What's it about?
Loneliness affects many people—but some groups are especially at risk and often overlooked in research and design. We’re hosting an interactive event to share findings from work with three groups that are especially at risk of loneliness and to spark new ideas. After a short talk and Q&A, we’ll dive into a hands-on design jam—a creative session to brainstorm tech-based solutions. Whether you're a developer, designer, researcher, or just curious, your insights are welcome!
Let’s work together to make technology more inclusive and supportive for those who need it most.
This event will be led by Dr Lis Grey (University of Bristol), Dr Sarah Campbell (Play Well for Life), Prof David Ellis and Dr Lukasz Piwek (University of Bath), Ann-Marie Scott (The Care Forum)
