Money & finance theme
What's on offer?
Looking for work, returning after a career break, or thinking about a change of direction later in life?
Perhaps you have years of valuable skills and experience to offer, but feel the world of work has changed?
Join us at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford to explore what it really means to find, return to or remain in meaningful work later in life.
What's it about?
Researchers from the University of Surrey and Royal Holloway University of London, are working with local organisations and communities to understand the challenges facing people aged 50+ in today’s labour market – from changing skills and recruitment practices to confidence, flexibility, age-related stereotypes and knowing where to find the right support.
They'll share insights from their research - but they also want to hear from you! Through short talks, conversations and interactive activities, you’ll have the opportunity to share your own experiences of work and job seeking, hear from others, explore what support could make a genuine difference, and help identify practical ways to make employment more inclusive for people in later life.
Your experiences and ideas will contribute to ongoing research and help inform future approaches to employment and skills support in Surrey. The event will take place in the River Room at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. Registration and refreshments will be available from 1.30pm, with the event running from 2.00–4.30pm.
Who's leading the event?
Dr Lorna Wang, Dr Tracy Xu - (University of Surrey) Dr Filipa Tavares Moreira (Royal Holloway University of London)
