What's on offer?

Join us for a 2-hour in-person interactive workshop for employers keen to understand the benefits of employing neurodivergent individuals and those with learning disabilities, and wish to gain confidence in hiring them.

The workshop will offer an opportunity to learn about neurodiversity and learning disabilities including key definitions, language, and myth busting.

We will then share advice and support for employers through the full employment cycle, from advertising roles to supporting employees long-term.

By the end of the session, employers will have increased confidence in hiring and supporting neurodivergent employees and employees with learning disabilities.

The workshop will include a 15-minute comfort break.

What's it about?

Current research tells us that neurodivergent people and people with learning disabilities have much lower employment rates than the general population. Many of those who are unemployed want to work, and their skills could significantly benefit employers across Scotland.

Many employers want to welcome neurodivergent individuals and people with learning disabilities but feel unsure how to begin. With the right tools and guidance, they can confidently take the first steps toward inclusion.

This workshop intends to give employers the confidence to make actionable steps towards hiring a diverse range of talent so they can contribute to closing the disability employment gap.

We intend to provide a safe space for employers to ask questions, learn, and plan their next steps.

Who's leading the event?

Chirsty McFadyen, Economist, Fraser of Allander Institute, University of Strathclyde, in collaboration with Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) and Mindroom.
